Welcome to my blog page.

My new book called 'Thirty Nine' is now available on the Blurb website

Thirty Nine

My only photographic activity recently has been a trip to Thruxton, (my first) to watch the Touring Cars qualify for racing on 1st May. Some pictures are under the Eclectica section. It was an opportunity to try my new Canon 7D which I bought for it's predictive focusing capability.I'm pleased to say it works very well and a great addition to my camera bag. The cameras 1.6 sensor magnifacation also meant my 35-350mm lens could get closer to the action.

20/04/2011 After surgery on 13th April I am not able to shoot anything for another week so have been spending the time re-editing pictures. The picture on the About Schotz page was taken in 2007 in a quarry on Portland Dorset which has been giving a new lease of life thanks to photoshop CS5. Back in 2007 I didn't even know what photoshop was so I'm grateful I now have that option to make my work look semi respectable.

Since the arrival of my Canon 2.8 lens in January opportunities to use it have been very rare so I'm looking forward to getting out on location again to give it a good test. I'm always looking for interesting places to photograph with and without a model in tow so if anybody knows anywhere suitable in Dorset please let me know by mailing me at schotzart@gmail.com

22/04/2011 I uploaded the picture below to EPZ last night and it was given a Highly Commended Award within two minutes. Not sure if that's a record but made me feel better after a very tiring day, it was the first time I'd left the house since coming home from hospital a week ago.

Lee at NR Green managed to rescue some bad editing to make quite a respectable print of one of my Faith pictures. The corn snake was supplied by The Safe Haven Resue Centre in Parkstone who will now display the print below in their Ashley Road shop.
